Davao Dream Home: Perfect Location, Unbelievable Comfort!

Davao Dream Home: Perfect Location, Unbelievable Comfort!
Davao Dream Home: More Than Just a Hotel - It's a Davao Dream… Almost. (A Messy, Honest Review)
Alright, listen up, future Davao adventurers! I just got back from a stay at Davao Dream Home – the place promising “Perfect Location, Unbelievable Comfort!” And let me tell you, it's… complicated. It's like that friend you love dearly, but sometimes they leave the lid off the toothpaste. Let’s dive in, shall we? Buckle up, it’s gonna be a ride.
Accessibility: Yeah, okay, they've got the basics down. Elevator? Yes! Makes life easier. I didn't personally scrutinize, but the Facilities for disabled guests were listed so that's promising. The Exterior corridor gives a slight motel vibe, but it’s also a quick escape route for those after-sunset ice cream runs.
On-Site Restaurants & Lounges: The Snack Bar Salvation
Okay, so I'm a snack person, and you know that's important. They’ve got a Coffee shop, and a Snack bar! Hallelujah! That was a lifesaver at 3 AM during some serious jet lag. The Poolside bar deserves a special mention – sunsets there with a cold drink are truly magical. They also have various Restaurants offering a range of cuisines (more on that later). Don't get me wrong, the food was acceptable, the coffee was drinkable, the service was a mixed bag. I really, really, really appreciated the convenience.
Cleanliness and Safety: Germaphobe's Paradise? Almost.
Okay, as an anxiety-ridden flier, safety is HUGE. They do seem to take it seriously. Anti-viral cleaning products? Check. Rooms sanitized between stays? Check. Daily disinfection in common areas? Big check. The staff all seem pretty well-trained in safety protocols. They were also giving out Hand sanitizer like it was candy, and in these times, it's more valuable than gold. They also have a Doctor/nurse on call, which makes you feel a lot more secure, too. My room wasn't perfectly sanitized (there were a few rogue dust bunnies, but honestly, who cares), but they were clearly trying.
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking: A Feast of Options, A Frustration of Flavors.
Alright, let's talk food. They have a whole buffet of choices, catering to all tastes. Now, here's the thing: you could get the Asian breakfast, Western breakfast, or a mix. I opted for the Asian breakfast on my first morning. It was…fine. The coffee/tea was decent. On the second morning, I tried the A la carte in restaurant, ordered the classic Soup in restaurant, which was a little underwhelming. They do have restaurants offering both Asian cuisine and Western cuisine in restaurant. There is also the option of Room service [24-hour]! And even a Vegetarian restaurant, if you swing that way. Happy hour? Absolutely. Poolside bar? Oh yes!
Things to Do, Ways to Relax: Spa Day Dreams…or Not?
This is where Davao Dream Home almost nails it. The Swimming pool [outdoor] is gorgeous, and the Pool with a view is stunning – especially at sunset. They have a Fitness center, Gym/fitness and the Spa/sauna looked enticing. I was REALLY looking forward to a massage. I mean come on, Body scrub, Body wrap, Massage, Sauna, Steamroom, Spa - all there! But, and this is a big BUT… it was fully booked during my stay. Lesson learned: book your spa treatments way in advance. Don’t be a me and end up crying in the corner over your missed opportunity for a Foot bath and Spa.
Services and Conveniences: The Good, The Bad, and the Slightly Confusing
Okay, the Concierge was super helpful. The Daily housekeeping did a decent job of keeping my mess at bay. Laundry service and Dry cleaning are available. I also loved the Car park [free of charge], because parking in the city is a nightmare. They also have Cash withdrawal and a Convenience store (good for all those midnight snack runs, right?). They also have a Gift/souvenir shop, perfect for grabbing a last-minute present for your long-suffering friends.
For the Kids: Babysitters and Kid-Friendly Fun!
I didn’t have kids with me, but the Kids facilities make it super family-friendly. They boast a Babysitting service and Kids meal options.
The Room Itself: Comfort, But Not Always Perfection
My room? It was a mixed bag. The Air conditioning was a lifesaver, especially in the Davao heat. Blackout curtains were AMAZING, and essential for sleep. Free Wi-Fi in the rooms was a massive plus, but sometimes a bit spotty; it's mentioned later in greater detail. The Bed was comfy, the shower was a pain sometimes. The view varies, but the Soundproofing was decent. The Coffee/tea maker? Crucial. The Refrigerator? Necessary for those late-night beer runs. But let's get real: the bathroom could use some updating. There was a leak. It was a minor leak, it didn't ruin my trip, but come on.
Internet: Wi-Fi Warriors Unite!
Okay, internet… the bane of my existence. They advertise Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! and Internet access – wireless, I wanted to scream, "YES!" But truth be told, it could be… temperamental. One minute you’re streaming Netflix, the next you're staring at a loading screen. The Internet [LAN] option is available, which might be the way to go if you are truly needing consistent speeds. But let’s face it, what's a vacation without a little struggle?
Getting Around: Mostly Smooth Sailing
Airport transfer was seamless. They also have Taxi service and Car park [free of charge] and Valet parking.
The Verdict: Worth It…With Reservations
Okay, so would I stay at Davao Dream Home again? Yes, probably. Mostly because the location is fantastic. It's central, easy to get around, and close to everything. They tried so hard. They definitely leaned on providing an excellent experience. It's not perfect, but it's comfortable, convenient, generally safe, and it’s got that all-important Davao charm. The Davao Dream Home is almost a dream come true.

Baguio's BEST 2-Bedroom Condo Escape: CloudBaguio Bristle Ridge Awaits!
Alright, buckle up buttercups, because we're about to dive headfirst into a Davao adventure! Forget Instagram filters and picture-perfect itineraries. This is the raw, the real, the “did I really eat that much durian?” edition. And trust me, you’ll get the full spectrum of emotions, from genuine awe to the utter despair of losing your favorite hat (more on that later).
The Davao Debauchery: A Messy, Honest Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, "Wow" Moments, and Mango Madness
Morning (Arrival - Expect Chaos): Land in Davao. Pray the baggage claim isn’t a complete disaster zone. Seriously, sometimes it's like a free-for-all grab bag. The airport's actually pretty decent, surprisingly. Secure a Grab (taxi app - essential for Davao) to our… drumroll… Perfect Location & Super Comfortable Home. Oh, my god, it's even better than the pictures! Greenery, the pool looks inviting, and the air? Glorious! Already starting to feel all the stress melt away.
Afternoon (The Lay of the Land… and Lunch): Explore the neighborhood around the house. Let's be real, "explore" usually means wandering around slightly bewildered until you find a carinderia (local eatery). Found one! Cheap, delicious, and the most authentic Filipino food I’ve had in ages. Sizzling sisig, anyone? Wash it down with a San Miguel beer. Already sweat-stained and happy.
Late Afternoon (Mango Tango): Davao is known for its mangoes. I'm talking the king, the queen, the emperors of mangoes. Head to a local market and buy a mountain. Eat one. Eat two. Eat five. Okay, maybe I went a little overboard. Mango juice running down my chin. Worth it. Absolutely worth it.
Evening (Chillin' & Grillin’): Back at the house. Swim in the pool. Try to remember how to swim (it's been a while). Cook some barbecue on the grill. Fail miserably at cooking, but who cares? We’re in Davao! Relax, laugh. Pure bliss.
Day 2: The Samal Island Escape (And Epic Hat Loss!)
Morning (Ferry Fiasco): Early rise. Head to the ferry terminal for Samal Island. The ferry itself is fine, nothing spectacular. More on Samal later, I want to talk about the Hat. The hat was perfect. A floppy, wide-brimmed, straw hat that shielded me from the sun. I loved that hat. I’d only had it an hour.
Mid-Morning (Paradise Found…Then Slightly Tarnished): Arrive on Samal. The beaches here are stunning – white sand, turquoise water. We found a spot on Hagimit Falls. It was idyllic. Swimming, taking photos, enjoying the sun…
Afternoon (Hat-astrophe): This is where the emotional trainwreck begins. After a particularly vigorous swim, I realized the unthinkable. MY HAT WAS GONE. Vanished. Swept away by a rogue wave, probably mocking me as it drifted out to sea. I searched the beach. I interrogated my friends. No hat. Pure, unadulterated devastation. Mutter, curse, repeat. This loss cast a pall over the afternoon. Let's just say the tropical paradise lost a little of its luster.
Late Afternoon (Samal Recovery Mode): Even without the hat, the island is beautiful. We visited Monfort Bat Cave Sanctuary, and I was able to forget about the hat for a while. Watching those bats fly out as the sunsets were beautiful, I tried to appreciate it despite the hat-shaped hole in my heart. (Too dramatic? Maybe.)
Evening (Dinner & Distraction): Dinner at a beachside restaurant. Focus on the food, the company, and try to forget about the hat-shaped void. It didn't work. I feel a hat-shaped void.
Day 3: Durian Dilemma & the Crocodile Park
Morning (The King of Fruits…or Smell?): Today, we confront the durian. The infamously stinky fruit. The “love it or hate it” sensation. I was a little scared, to be transparent. Luckily, I ordered a durian milkshake first. Not a bad entry point. Then, I had the actual durian. Its pungent aroma that filled every nook of the room once its opened, and I took a bite and the taste. The taste was indescribable. Like custard with a hint of onion. Not bad, not good. Weird. (I later learned it really does depend on the type. I'm told Davao has some of the best.)
Afternoon (Crocodile Encounters): Davao Crocodile Park is next. I'm not usually into zoos, but this place is actually pretty well-maintained and the crocodiles are… impressive. These are some seriously hefty reptiles. Some pretty funny poses, though.
Late Afternoon (Shopping & Local Culture): Visit a local market. Find some pasalubong (souvenirs) to bring home. Bargain like your life depends on it (it doesn’t). Buy some more mangoes. And keep an eye out for a hat… (I'm still not over it).
Evening (Farewell Feast): One last big dinner at a restaurant in the city. Savor every last bite. Reflect on the trip's highlights (the mangoes, the people, the surprisingly comfortable bed). And try not to think about the hat.
Day 4: Departure (And Last-Minute Hat-Hunting!)
Morning (Breakfast & Despair): Last breakfast at the house. Savor that last cup of coffee. Before heading to the airport, one last desperate attempt to find a hat. I visited every hat shop I could find. No luck. I even considered buying a whole new outfit just to keep a hat, but common sense thankfully prevailed.
Afternoon (Airport Anxiety): Off to the airport. Say goodbye to Davao. Think about all the things I'll miss (the relaxed atmosphere, the sunshine, the mangoes, and the missing hat).
Evening: Arrive home. Start planning the next trip. And maybe, just maybe, find a hat that can fill the void. (Just kidding… mostly.)
So there you have it. Davao, unfiltered. Messy, imperfect, and utterly unforgettable. Now go, explore, and make your own messy, honest, unforgettable memories. Just remember to hold onto your hat. Maybe.
